    More conflict of interest at play

    AsiaOne published a piece written by Tu Yong and Yu Shi Ming, from the Department of Real Estate, National University of Singapore, declaring that housing in Singapore is still affordable.

    HOUSING is a perennial hot topic of discussion, especially in Singapore where it touches almost every segment of society - from the low to middle income in public housing to the middle and higher income aspiring to upgrade to private property.

    Mr Mah, is that all you've got?

    Mr Mah Bow Tan, Minister for National Development, has again rubbished talk of HDB flat prices being unaffordable, dismissing the concerns of Singaporeans with dodgy numbers and empty words.

    “We’ll keep the prices such that they are pegged to the income, so this is how we manage affordability. We make sure that the prices do not exceed the 30 per cent benchmark.”

    Rising HDB flat prices due to "unrealistic expectations"?

    After the recent barrage of discussion about rising HDB prices, Miss Mabel Tan has decided to write to the government mouthpiece and declare the problem to be one caused by "unrealistic expectations".

    My family is an example of how HDB policies have helped us improve our standard of living and how gradual price increases have helped my family upgrade our housing status.
