TOC Exclusive - The Role of the Pre-Employment Grant
Monday, April 19, 2010 at 1:13PM My first exclusive piece for The Online Citizen, about the proposed "pre-employment grant" for foreign-trained Singaporean doctors, is published here. Here's a sneak peek.
The PEG works on a simple premise: MOH will pay up to 60% of the fees for medical school, up to an annual cap of, say, $50,000, and in return they serve in one of Singapore's public healthcare institutions for a period of four years upon graduation. This four-year service bond is expected to include the year-long internship/housemanship that all doctors go through after graduation.
You can read the entire piece here. Comments are, as usual, welcomed.
