Hey Callan,

I am rather new to photography, but I really your ideas such as this Black & White Project. I had to comment because I too agree with Elliot Erwitt, and I am increasingly finding photography to be a self-ish creative endeavor, much like painting. Thank you for sharing.

And I do like this picture. The feeling of transience in such a historically-laden location adds to the picture. Cheers.

Nice. You hit the nail on the head sir. Lost count of the amount of emails I get from people who expect a magic wand or photoshop action for everything. Said to a few people that, yes, there is an action to get photos looking like 'the colours or tones I get': it's hidden deep in the CS5 program files and called 'I-picked-up-a-camera-aged-five-and-have-shot-ever-since-plus-at-least-20-years-in-darkrooms-then-another-bunch-of-years-practising-so-do-that-and-maybe-you'll-figure-it-out.acn"

One addition to your article:

Or, sir, me.... and add snow, typhoons and a bunch of other bad weather to that list :-)

I know this is late but I'd just like to point out that extremism can happen in all religions. The recent tragedy in Norway is further evidence that extremism can happen in other religions also. This is with hope that the world community will not 'label' this fault on islam alone....
