Who
My name is Callan; I was known as Trapper back in my younger days, and yes, I took the name from MASH the TV series. That also explains the name of the blog, as The Swamp was where Trapper and Hawkeye hung out. I work in the IT industry, primarily as a network support guy. I enjoy gaming, having spent 3 years playing World of Warcraft, and enjoy games like Final Fantasy and Fallout.
I also dabble in a spot of photography whenever I have the time. There is nothing quite like making a picture, the slap of the mirror and the clack of the shutter gives me a peace that is hard to attain. Like your typical geek, I am also enamoured by shiny gadgets and playing games of movie quotes with friends. I consider myself to be one hell of a lucky bastard, as I'm married to the most wonderful woman I know and surrounded by friends I love.
I am a social media addict, and can be frequently found on Twitter or Facebook. You might actually have a better chance contacting me there than by my cellphone.
What
I have been blogging since around 2001, and have used several platforms, most recently Blogger. Changes in platforms aside, my blogs have always been about my opinions on politics, religion, culture, news, and of course, my boring, inane life. Expect insanity, hilarity, and bucketloads of swearing. Do not expect any shying away from uncomfortable topics, and I hope everyone can share their views openly.
Except fart jokes. Most of the time, they're not funny. Except when they are, in which case, let 'er rip.
You have been warned.
Misanthropic, liberal, egomaniacal atheist?
Those labels describe pretty much how other people see me. The truth however, is never that simple nor straightforward. I am a misanthropic humanist, a liberal conservative libertarian, a humble egomaniac, and an atheist who struggles to reconcile faith and a need for logic and open-mindedness.
Confused? I'm not. Try to keep up.
How do I get to you?
With black helicopters circling overhead. Or spout some illogical, religion-fuelled discriminatory straw man argument. Or just click on the Contact page and drop me a note. The latter is infinitely more preferable :)
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your stay here, and I hope you keep coming back. And drop me that note, will ya?
